In this week’s class, we explored the powerful intersection of Chinese medicine pattern diagnostics, anthroposophical philosophy, and the art of Spiritual PhytoEssencing.
I explained the vital concepts of Yin and Yang, and how modern lifestyles, stress, and diet deplete our energetic reserves. By bridging Chinese medical philosophy with Rudolph Steiner’s concepts of the Etheric (structure/Yin) and Astral (movement/Yang) bodies, we gain a deeper understanding of how the human organism mirrors the natural world.
A major focus of this class was Tongue Analysis—a highly accessible and accurate diagnostic tool. We learnt how to read the body's internal landscape by observing the tongue's color, shape, coating, and specific organ zones. Finally, I demonstrated how to translate these diagnostic findings into actionable therapeutics, providing specific essential oil blending strategies and dietary adjustments to resolve both Internal Cold and Internal Heat.

The key to achieving soul-level reintegration via work with essential oils is the ability to get beyond a focus on their biochemistry and therapeutic actions and access and acknowledge the unique soul-nature of each oil that is the spiritual root of the oil’s physical properties. When this is done, the plant souls harbored within the oils will respond reciprocally and the human soul/plant soul encounter will be illuminated by spirit.
The greater the number of essential oils one understands on this level, the more dynamic the potential for creating blends which will touch the soul on deeper and deeper levels and provide the illumination to lead it from inertial stuckness and fragmentation to wholeness and soul-to-soul relation with all elements of the natural world. In this way one can re-establish the natural capacity, lost in early childhood, to connect earthly fire with heavenly light.
